NYPA Hosts Family-Friendly Wildlife Festival at Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center

New York – The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is set to welcome the community for its annual Wildlife Festival at the Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center on Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival promises a day of fun and education for all ages. Attendees can explore a petting zoo, multiple bounce houses, wildlife-themed crafts, and a virtual reality experience. A dedicated entertainment tent will feature a bubble show, dance performances, magic, and a STEM presentation by the Dirtmeister. Live music will be provided throughout the day by DJ Patrick M. DelRosario. Food trucks and craft vendors will also be on site.

The experience at Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center is a triple play. The science of electricity and hydropower comes to life at the Visitors Center, which is housed in a restored 19th-century dairy barn and part of the Lansing Manor complex. Right beside it, Lansing Manor preserves history with authentic furnishings and antiques from the first half of the 19th century. The manor, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, includes 10 large rooms across two floors, a below-ground kitchen, and other utility spaces, showcasing classic Federal period architecture. Lansing Manor is operated by NYPA and is marking its 42nd season as an admission-free museum, open daily for guided tours from May through October.

The Visitors Center itself features a wide range of interactive exhibits on the basics and uses of electricity and the operation of the Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project. It is open daily, year-round, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Surrounding the complex, visitors can enjoy trails, boating, fishing, and other outdoor recreation, with NYPA’s lower and upper reservoirs open for seasonal recreational boating.

The festival location is at 1378 State Route 30 in North Blenheim, roughly an hour from Albany, 17 miles south of Middleburgh, and five miles north of Grand Gorge. This annual event is designed to provide a hands-on experience for families while showcasing wildlife, energy education, history, and outdoor activities in a fun, engaging environment.
