No More Complimentary Breakfast At Hyatt Place

Breakfast At Hyatt Place

Breakfast at Hyatt Place has long been a staple of the brand, with guests enjoying a comfortable bed, convenient locations, competitive pricing, and a complimentary breakfast as standard. However, this may be changing, as Hyatt has announced that select Hyatt Place locations are now experimenting with room rates that exclude breakfast.

This marks a notable shift for the brand, traditionally recognized for providing breakfast to all guests. As this trial progresses, travelers might want to confirm breakfast offerings before booking at these locations.

Hyatt Place is known for its affordable rates, reliable amenities as compared to other Hyatt Hotel brands and, often including complimentary breakfast at Hyatt Place. However, select locations are now testing a breakfast surcharge, marking a shift for the brand.

Breakfast At Hyatt

The $11 breakfast charge at Hyatt Place typically covers a buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, oatmeal, orange juice, coffee, and fruit, all self-serve with no tipping required. Consider the convenience of a quick breakfast in the hotel lobby when weighing the cost against dining options outside.

Hyatt has confirmed that the trial of breakfast at Hyatt Place excluded rates is currently limited to select Hyatt Place locations within the U.S.

At the moment, a limited number of Hyatt Place hotels in the U.S.  are piloting new grab-and-go menu options while others are testing a rate plan that allows guests to book a stay that does not include breakfast. World of Hyatt Globalists continue to enjoy a free breakfast at all Hyatt Place hotels globally (when booked through Hyatt channels).

At pilot hotels, guests are not required to book through Hyatt channels in order to book a rate plan that includes breakfast. To book a reservation with breakfast included on Hyatt.com, guests can simply select a “bed and breakfast” room type upon booking.

Recently, some Hyatt Place guests have reported unexpected breakfast charges at locations where it was previously complimentary. While most hotels still offer free breakfast at Hyatt Place , select U.S. locations are piloting grab-and-go options or testing rates without breakfast included. Notably, World of Hyatt Globalists will continue to receive complimentary breakfast at Hyatt Place locations worldwide, as confirmed by a Hyatt spokesperson.

Hyatt Place

Hyatt Place first emerged in 2004 when Hyatt bought the AmeriSuites hotel chain. This acquisition marked the beginning of Hyatt’s steady expansion, with AmeriSuites later rebranded as Hyatt Place to fit the company’s vision for mid-range accommodations.

AmeriSuites, an upscale all-suite hotel chain owned by the Blackstone Group, was rebranded as Hyatt Place. This move positioned Hyatt Place as a competitor to Marriott’s Courtyard and Hilton’s Garden Inn in the limited-service hotel market.
