MTA to Add 15 More Customer Service Centers Across NYC Subway System in 2026

NEW YORK — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) on Monday announced plans to expand its network of Customer Service Centers (CSCs) to 15 additional subway stations across New York City beginning in 2026.

The move will double the number of service centers citywide, bringing the total to 30. The centers, first introduced in 2022, provide 24/7 in-person assistance to riders seeking help with fare payment systems, reduced-fare programs and navigating the subway system.

According to the MTA, the expansion aims to support the ongoing rollout of the OMNY contactless fare payment system and recent updates to the Fair Fares program.

“With overall subway rider satisfaction at an all-time high, our customer service agents are a big part of that accomplishment,” said Shanifah Rieara, MTA Chief Customer Officer. “Customer Service Centers are part of our core commitment to helping New Yorkers navigate the transit system and we’re excited to expand this important service locally.”

Transit officials confirmed four of the 15 new CSC locations on Monday:

East 180 Street (2,5) – The Bronx
Grand Central (4,5,6) – Manhattan
Far Rockaway–Mott Avenue (A) – Queens
Rockaway Parkway (L) – Brooklyn

The remaining 11 locations are expected to be announced in the coming months. The expansion will cover all five boroughs, including Staten Island.

“Customer Service Centers bring support directly to neighborhoods where riders live,” said New York City Transit President Demetrius Crichlow. “This expansion ensures our riders have easy access to real-time help as we modernize the system.”

CSCs are staffed by trained station agents who assist with tasks such as switching from MetroCards to OMNY, enrolling in the Fair Fares and Reduced-Fare programs, providing wayfinding support, and offering information on travel delays and system updates. Agents also help first-time applicants complete fare program forms.

The centers are repurposed from existing booths or retail spaces and feature branded design elements, updated lighting, OMNY equipment and enhanced accessibility. While most locations operate 24/7, the St. George center on Staten Island follows a weekday schedule from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Services currently offered at MTA’s headquarters at 3 Stone Street in Lower Manhattan will continue, but officials say the expanded network will make it easier for riders to access the same support without leaving their home boroughs.

The expansion comes as the MTA pushes for broader adoption of OMNY, its tap-and-go fare system expected to fully replace MetroCards in the near future.

For more information and updates on future CSC locations, riders are advised to visit the MTA’s official website.
